Questions to ask a used-club seller

By Green Era Golf · From the parent side of junior golf

A few clear answers can make comparing listings much easier.

Confirm the exact club

Ask for the model, handedness, shaft details and actual length. Request pictures of the club being sold rather than relying only on manufacturer photos. Check that the included pieces match the listing.

Ask about modifications

Has the shaft been shortened, extended or replaced? Has the club been repaired? A fitter can help decide whether the current specifications and any proposed changes are appropriate.

Inspect condition and protections

Look for damage, loose components and worn grips. Ask about returns and read the platform’s current buyer protection terms. For expensive brands, seek evidence of authenticity; a low price alone tells you very little.

Put the answers into a total

Add purchase price, shipping, tax and a fitter’s quote for necessary work. Compare the result with another suitable club in ready-to-play condition. Walk away if the questions do not have clear answers.
